The Late Thomas Murray

Wednesday 29th June 2022

Coiste Chontae an Dúin and the family that is Down GAA are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Murray of Darragh Cross.

Thomas gave a lifetime of service to his club, serving on the first committee in 1964, and after his playing career had ended, he remained a dedicated committee member for over 50 years, serving as chairman and vice Chairman on a number of occasions.

He was instrumental in the purchase and development of the current playing field in the late 1980’s and spent years thereafter in maintaining the playing surface and marking the pitch.

Thomas was both a clubman and a gentleman and his gentle nature was felt and appreciated by all who knew him or came into contact with him.

Thomas's Son Ultan was for many years involved with Down Teams, looking after logistics and support and gave great service to the County.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Ultan and the entire Murray Family circle and to the Gaels of Darragh Cross at this sad time.
