ALL IRELAND SCOR NA NÓG FINAL 2017

All roads lead to the Waterfront in Belfast this weekend for the All Ireland Scór na nÓg final.  There  has been great excitement among the three clubs in Down as they prepare for this wonderful occasion.   This is their ultimate dream, a place in the All Ireland Final and the preparations have been intense as these very talented young people put the finishing touches to what they hope will be a winning performance.  Everyone is singing from the same book in Mayobridge and Glasdrumman as they fine tune their songs and Ballyholland certainty have left no book unread as they prepare for the quiz.  Speaking to the three club chairmen, I asked them to sum up for me what this occasion means to them and their members,

Kevin Loughran Ballyholland club Chairman quoted

"This is another great occasion for Ballyhollland in reaching an All Ireland final two years in a row. There was tremendous excitement in the community last year when the Set Dancers reached the final and that level is reached again with the achievements of the Quiz team. They fought off very strong competition in Down and have a proven knowledge of all things Irish and beyond. They are fine  clever young men who have done the Harps proud and we all wish them every luck in the final in Belfast and extend best wishes also to Mayobridge Ballad  Group and Niamh McDowell Glasdrumman in solo singing.
It is another proud occasion for the team, their families and the club!

Glasdrumman Chairman Gary Mc Greevy added  The ambition of any Club is to fully represent  G.A.A,  our  traditions, games, culture, language within our local community ,  Now this year Club history  is being made in our Scór na nÓg participation, Our Club has competed in both Scór Sinsir and Scór na nÓg for over forty years. This year in Scór na nÓg our three  acts in Ceoil Uirlise (instrumental music), Bailead Ghrúpa (ballad  group) and Amhranaiocht Aonair (solo singing) all made it to the South Down  Final. Our Ballad group and Solo singer competed in the County final and we're proud to have Niamh McDowell as our County and Provincial champion. She's been an inspiration to all within the Club, She carries the best wishes from all our Scór family and from all within our Club. I would like to wish good luck to the quiz team of Baile Chólmáin, the ballad group from Droichaed Mhaigh Eo who have provided a great source of companionship and camaraderie and  to our very own Niamh .  AN  DÚÍN  ABÚ! GLÁSDRÓMÁIN ABÚ!
