Coiste Chontae an Dúin and the family that is Down GAA are saddened to learn of the death of Delia McCarron.
We extend our deepest sympathy to her husband Michael, daughters Tara and Isa, her mother Marie, also remembering her late father James (McCartan), her siblings Brian, James, Charlie Pat, Maria, Daniel, Eoin, John Byrne and the entire McCarron and McCartan family circles.
We also offer our condolences to the Gaels of Carryduff at this sad time.
Delia was a person who put her heart and soul into the world of the GAA and coming from the rich GAA Stock of the McCartan Clan, it would only be fitting that she would immerse herself in our games, be that on the Camogie field, on the Ladies Football pitches, supporting the Red and Black, or in administration in the Club, Delia brought energy and passion to every task she undertook.
Watching her two daughters play with Club and County gave her great joy, whether it be Athletics or Ladies Football, Delia was there, with words of encouragement.
In the Carryduff Club, Delia took on many roles, indeed only a few months ago, Delia was operating the Tuck Shop at the ground and one can imagine, that for Delia the dentist by day, this was a conflict of Interests, but a role undertaken with energy, enthusiasm and the offering of good advice no doubt!
Delia made a difference to the lives of many, young and old, her personality always shone through even in the most difficult of days, she was an inspiration to Gaels, in Carryduff, in Down and beyond, for that we are all greatful.
