FOOTBALL
SFL – Cumann Pheadar Naofa 1-11 v Clonduff 0-16
GREAT START TO THE SENIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2016!
Clonduff and Cumann Pheadar Naofa kicked off the Down Senior League on Wednesday evening in Pairc Liam Úi hÍr. A good crowd of spectators braved the elements - sleet, hailstones and rain earlier in the day mainly stayed away for the game but made underfoot condition rather difficult.
Clonduff playing with wind advantage started at a great rate, scored a point and missed three before they were rocked back when the 'Point scored a goal on their first raid upfield. It was great end-to-end football in such difficult conditions. The home side led 1-5 to 0-7 at the break and got the first two scored of the second half. The Yellas then hit a purple patch and scored five unanswered points to take a two point lead. The sides were level on two later occasions before Clonduff clinched the game with two unanswered points and some great interceptions. A very valuable two points in first game of the season - next up is Castlewellan at home on Monday night.
Team and scorers: Paul Gribben, Brendan Britton, Shane O'Hagan, Kieran Trainor, Mark McPolin, Darren O'Hagan (0-1), Paul Lively, Henry Brown (0-1), Patrick O'Hagan, Charlie Carr, Aidan Carr (0-4), Eamon O'Reilly, Liam McGreevy (0-1), Arthur McConville (0-5), Barry O'Hagan (0-1); Subs used: Rían Branagan (0-2), Conor Óg O'Hagan (0-1), Finbarr McConville
ACMFL - CLONDUFF 4-10 V ROSTREVOR 1-5
Clonduff Minor Footballers played their first home game on Tuesday 5th April against last year's county champions Rostrevor. The Yellas were searching for a first win after a defeat to Saul last week. After a slow start in last week's game they came storming out of the blocks this week and opened the game with 2 goals - Rostrevor scored a point in reply. The visitors lifted their game in the middle of the 1st half but with both sides missing opportunities the score board stayed in low numbers.
Half time: Clonduff 2-3 Rostrevor 0-3
In the 2nd half both teams started strong and it was end to end with big Rostrevor midfielder now moved to full forward to help work a score. Clonduff never panicked, however, and what was a real team effort with a great workrate all over the field Clonduff pushed on in the final quarter leaving the scoreline 4-10 to 1-5.
Team: Thomas O'Hare, Jonathon Gribben, Patrick Branagan, Callan Branagan, Tiernan McEvoy, Lyndon Brown, Ryan Matthews, Conor Woods, Ross Carr, Colm Fearon, John Boden, Dean McCabe, Brandon Roe, Ryan McGreevy, Ben McConville. Subs used: Conor Keenan, Jamie O'Hagan, Darren Quinn, Padraig Wilson
South Down U16 Football League Div 1 – Clonduff 3-19 v Tullylish 0-1
Clonduff had an easier win than expected against a Tullylish Team that had run Shamrocks close last week. The Clonduff boys played some very good football and were really on song with their score taking. All the players on the panel got some game time.
Team and scorers: James carvill, Ryan Woods, Conor Parr (1-0), Kieran Mulholland, Rory McKernan, Jamie O'Hagan (0-1), Dylan Downey, Shay Fitzpatrick, James Keenan (0-3), Padraig Kelly, (1-1), Aidan Markey, Tom close (0-2), Padraig Wilson (0-6), Eamon Brown (0-4), Conor Fitzpatrick (1-1); Subs used: Shane Parr (0-1), Darragh Fitzpatrick, Declan Hudson, Pearse Cunningham, Charlie Kerr, Eoin Murray, Cathal Fitzpatrick, Eugene Lively

CAMOGIE
Two juvenile Camogie games did go ahead on Tuesday night – both away - the Minors v Ballyholland (scheduled for Ballyholland) was played in Derryleckagh. Clonduff won 3-8 to 2-5 – great performance from a young team. Sara Louise Carr and Paula Gribben took charge of the team.
The U14 team had a resounding win away to Castlewellan – great start to the season for both these young teams.
